My Father Has Passed Away

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I regret to inform you all that my father past away peacefully in his sleep.  My father was a wonderful man who will be sadly missed in the local community.  His kindness and generosity knew no boundaries.  He gave me all the love a son could ever wish for.  Therefore, I am in England for the funeral and also to take care of my dear mother.  Out of respect for my father and in order to take care of my mother, there will be no further updates for the time being.  I thought that I should let you all know, because you have been very loyal readers.

Kind Regards,

Dave The Rave.

Big Erection Day

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

One of my Thai friends cracked us up by saying, “Big Erection Day!”  Arie na kap? (Pardon me).  Apparently the Thais have “mounted’ yet another Big Erection Day!  Don’t you just love that “R” and “L” Oriental plobrem!

GOOD NEWS FOR A BANGKOK BOOZE CRUISE

Some people think that this referendum is an important vote for the constitution of Thailand, while others just want to get smashed.  The good news is that the Bangkok bars will be open.  The main nightlife areas in Bangkok have confirmed that they will be open this Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Sorry to resident veterans, but this is very confusing for guys who do not reside here in Thailand.  Mind you, it is confusing enough for us who live here too!  The Bangkok bars will be open… Yipee!

Down in Pattaya there has been nothing confirmed either way, so poor ole Pleasure Playground does not know yet.

Filipino Fever - August 17, 2007

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Philippine IslandsThe other day I was reading some of the internet chat boards associated with the Angeles City nightlife scene, and I am constantly amazed at the bitching that goes on about prices.  I have a funny feeling that the majority of these particular chat board contributors are Americans and, of course, the greenback has taken a hard hit over the last 18 months, whilst the Euro and the Canadian, and Australian dollar have fared very well.  In addition the British pound is consistently very strong.

CHEERS FOR THE CHEAP BEERS!

Club Electric Blue Website

Big Andy is throwing yet another party.  This Saturday August 18 Club Electric Blue down in Patpong 2 will host a big bash.  The special attraction for party animals will be a “booze buffet.”  The doors open at 7:00 PM and you have two hours to drink as many house drinks for just 1,000 baht.  Imported drinks and fancy stuff is not included, but you are invited to swill down all the regular domestic drinks you can.  Draught beer is available at a special Happy Hour price of ONLY 55 baht per glass.  I think this is a good deal for a Bangkok go-go bar.  Happy Hour runs from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  After Happy Hour there is yet another promotion where you can get a 2-4-1 deal on draught beer.  It is advisable to swing by early and enjoy this generous offer.  Not sure what the special is on the bargirls…

*Club Electric Blue is still seeking a farang manager.  If you are a suitable “meeter and greeter” who is suitable to run a go-go bar with some Thai language skills, then apply for the vacancy.  Just ask for Big Andy.*

*(Please note that although usually fairly accurate, closing times do vary, and on occasion some venues may close due to lack of customers and/or staff.)*
The bar closing times in Nana Plaza remain at 2:00 AM.  Angels Disco (located inside Nana Hotel) currently closes at 3:00 AM. Soi Cowboy closes around 2:30 AM.  Patpong closes between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM.  Most go-go bars in Pattaya stay open until at least 3:00 AM, while the discos and nightclubs are open until the very early hours.  Quite a lot of the pubs and clubs in Phuket stay open until well after 2:00 AM.

NANA PLAZA - NEON JUNGLE NEWS

After Dark AsiaThe most popular go-go bars in the neon jungle of Nana Plaza have recently had a significant surge in trade.  For the past few weeks, MANY bar owners’ right across Thailand have been moaning and groaning about the lack of customers.  Some people think it is getting increasingly worse each year, but there are bars that are holding their own remarkably well.  Rainbow 1 Go-Go Bar, Rainbow 4 Go-Go Bar and Angelwitch Go-Go Bar continue to attract large amounts of customers, maintaining a full house at peak trading times.  Rainbow 1 Go-Go Bar started this month with a staggering 160 dancing dolly birds (go-go girls).  There are some go-go bar owners who have several go-go bars and yet, they still cannot match tiny little Rainbow 1 Go-Go Bar for numbers.  Consistently, the mighty Rainbow 4 Go-Go Bar boasts even more dancing dolly birds with a total that fluctuates between 200 and 250 go-go bargirls.  (more…)

Filipino Fever - August 04, 2007

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

Philippine IslandsMany readers have asked about security in the Philippines. Overall, it is quite safe. There are places in most cities of the world that are not safe – same for Manila, Angeles City and the Subic area. Tourist destinations are particularly vulnerable. In the past year, there has been one questionable death in Angeles City and none in Subic. Tourists are more likely to be scammed than anything else. The most common is the, “Let’s play cards scam.”
