GRAND OPENING PARTY FOR SPORTS ACADEMY POOL HALL
There is a Grand Opening Party for Sports Academy Pool Hall this Friday, November 30 from 4:00 PM. It is located on the second level of Seafood Palace at Asoke junction (BTS Skytrain Station Asoke). This latest sports addition is most definitely “cool for pool” with 10 Brunswick pool tables and also BIG TV screens. They are kindly offering FREE FOOD and FREE POOL. It will be interesting to see how Sports Academy Pool Hall compares to the rival equivalent Ball In Hand. At this point we cannot say, but we will soon find out how cute and friendly the pool hall attendants are. Check it out!
FRIDAY NIGHT FEVER – BULL’S HEAD PUB DISCO
Do you wanna dance? For those that want to shake their stuff, or watch others shake their stuff, then fear not. The Bull’s Head Pub is hosting its last Friday of the month disco. Dance the night away with “Top Of The Pops” hits from the 1970’s right into the millenium. The Bull’s Head Pub is located opposite the Emporium Shopping Centre on Sukhumvit Road, Soi 33/1 (BTS Phrom Phong Station). Ran by the fun and friendly “Billy Don’t Be A Hero,” you are guaranteed a good time. Of course, I don’t mean with Billy himself – fortunately Billy is not on the guy’s menu! Swing by if you want to swing your bits about. DJ Paul Jackson gets the party going. It’s party time!
Once upon a time Pattaya was a tranquil little place. A small community of Thais lived in this sleepy and secluded fishing village. But, all of that changed during the escalation of the Vietnam War. Pattaya transcended into “Patpong-On-Sea.” Time passed by and the rush for tourist cash totally ruined its image both above and below the surface. Frankly speaking, from the mid 1970’s, right into the 1990’s Pattaya was an ugly, stinking mess! European travel magazines often gave their readers clear warnings about the appalling pollution and other serious health hazards. In 1992 Which Holiday magazine voted Pattaya one of the world’s worst beach resorts. This is not at all an accolade that any holiday destination would wish to acquire.
Whenever you read through any general guide to Thailand, you will learn that November is the start of the cool season. This is the time of year (supposedly speaking), when Thailand sees the least rainfall and less humidity. Also, the average temperature is generally lower as well.
USA TODAY recently listed “Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards” in the magazine’s November issue. Phuket claimed the top spot for most popular Asian/Indian Ocean Island, and Koh Samui was awarded 5th place. Bangkok was voted top Asian city, while Chiang Mai was awarded 5th place. A number of Thailand’s hotels, like the Bangkok Peninsula and Phuket’s Amanpuri, were ranked among the top 100 hotels around the world. Singapore Airlines retained its top spot for Best International Airline. Since the readers’ survey has been conducted, Singapore Airlines has held the title for 17 out of 18 years. Most impressive!
This is the story so far… After a few beers with my friend John, I decided that it would be fun to have my own website. John went away and in a couple of days he got me started. The website was certainly not at all appealing when it was first set up. In fact, I was heavily criticised by some people about how awful it used to look. OK guys, you can stop laughing now! Then, as luck would have it, a skilled web wizard called Mr Ed came to the rescue. I think you will agree that Mr Ed has done a fantastic job. The critics will not give us credit for the vast improvement, but they are not laughing now either. As one reader commented, “Well done Dave, your website is a zillion times better.”
