Hi Lee, thanks for your comments. Regarding Bangkok, I think you summed it up well. The BTS Skytrain and the MRT Subway are two of the most positive changes in Bangkok's history. In modern day Bangkok you are spoilt for choice from the vast range of nightlife entertainment, world class hotels, luxurious shopping centres, modern cinemas, superb restaurants, endless sightseeing and other activities. Not forgetting all of the health centres and spas. Bangkok still remains the most popular capital city in the whole of Asia.

Dave I agree that Bangkok has improved tremendously over the past 10 years or so. My first visit was 1996 and the traffic was far worse, no BTS or MRT and it took me 1 hour and 45 minutes in a taxi to go from Siam to Ekamai-now its a 15 minute ride on the BTS!! There was almost nothing to do that didnt involve naughty nightlife. There was Hard Rock Cafe, the clubs on Soi Srasin like Brown Sugar and the entertainment inside expensive hotels. That was about it. I was not impressed at all and almost never came back. Then the city started changing and upon my return I started to warm up to the place and eventually fell in love with it and made it my home. I always get a chuckle when I hear guys whining about "the good old days" in bangkok. It is a ten times better place to live now.
