BANGKOK AFTERMATH UPDATES 22/05/2010 – Today I will update this ‘Bangkok Burning Aftermath’ page, but the news is slowing down now.  This means that updates might not appear very often, but I will do my best to provide regular updates.  Incidentally, this website has received record web traffic, which shows how important these updates are.  On May 20th this website received over 100,000 hits in 24 hours.  As always, thanks for tuning in…

BANGKOK UPDATE (3:00 AM) – Heavy rain tonight here in Bangkok with thunder and lightning.  The curfew in Bangkok and other Thai provinces ends in two hours.  The bars, pubs and clubs will be open again on Sunday night.  The BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway will resume service on Sunday morning.  In addition, the banks in Bangkok will open on Monday morning.  Now us Thailanders can get on with our lives again!

BANGKOK AFTERMATH UPDATE – The big clean up operation commences during the day, whilst Bangkok and 23 other provinces remain under a strict curfew for two more nights.  On Friday, May 21st and Saturday, May 22nd an imposed curfew commences at 9:00pm until 5:00am on Sunday morning. 

BANGKOK AFTERMATH UPDATE – The Thai government admits that it underestimated the potential for violence in Bangkok on 19/05/2010.  Since May 14th the death toll has risen to 52 with over 400 injured. 

BANGKOK UPDATE – The BTS Skytrain service will remain suspended throughout Friday, May 21st.
