THIS PAGE WAS UPDATED FOR SEPTEMBER 2009
Bangkok’s pub scene has made a BIG impact over the past few years. There are numerous theme pubs, many of which, are designed and ran very well. Rather than hitting the go-go bars and discos every night, some farang residents are satisfied with a night out down their local pub.
I hope you have an enjoyable time in Bangkok. Cheers!

Telephone – 02-229-4542

(UPDATED JANUARY 2009) – This traditional British Pub is so authentic that you almost forget you are in Bangkok. An English expat described the fish ‘n’ chips, as the best he had tasted in Thailand. The friendly owner Dave, sometimes even serves Scottish kippers, albeit when they can get a supply. The regulars in The Black Swan consume one of the largest amounts of draught beer, which proves its popularity. In terms of being an authentic British Pub, you cannot get much closer than The Black Swan Pub.

Telephone – 02-259-4444
(Opposite Emporium Shopping Centre)

BULLY’S PUB
Sukhumvit Road (near JW Marriott Hotel) – BTS Nana
Telephone – 02-656-4609
Website – www.bullysbangkok.com
(UPDATED APRIL 2009) – Bully’s remains one of the most popular pubs in the whole of Bangkok. Overall, Bully’s Pub sell the most draught beers and ciders in Bangkok. Whatever time of day or night, Bully’s always has customers. There is a HUGE TV screen to watch a wide range of world sports events. Although more upmarket in terms of prices, the food is very good. For an example, try the ‘Bully Burger’ which is served with proper chips! Bully’s leads the way as a modern, American-International theme pub. The newly introduced Aussie lager ‘Pure Blonde’ is now available. Cheers for the new beers!
CHEQUERS PUB
Sukhumvit Soi Nana
Telephone – 02-255-3993
(UPDATED APRIL 2009) – Ran by the amicable Nick, this British Pub has a long history in Bangkok. Split over two levels, Chequers always welcomes its customers. An added bonus is that Peter Street has returned to assist with the running of Chequers. Two large Plasma TV screens provide sports fans with excellent viewing. The menu includes all the pub grub you would expect, plus specials like “Doctors Delight.” Popular among sports fans, boozers and socialites.
Peter Street left to manage the recently opened Queen Victoria Pub on Sukhumvit, Soi 23. However, Nick is still your friendly pub landlord.
Down Under Sports Bistro
Sukhumvit Soi 23 – BTS Asok
Telephone – 086-807-1384

(UPDATE – APRIL 2009) – Changed name to Bradman’s Sports Bistro. Obviously popular with Aussies and Kiwis, Bradman’s has excellent sports coverage and good pub grub too. This is one place where you can get Western style Chinese dishes. The sweet and sour chicken, and the lemon chicken are authentic Western-Chinese dishes. Usually, a relaxed atmosphere, unless the Aussies are losing! Very friendly thai girls, eager to serve you.
