Wishing You A Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 20121 - Wishing You A Happy New Year!

FOODLAND RETURNS – I am pleased to announce that Foodland Supermarket on Sukhumvit Soi 5 has reopened. It is a brand new store, with a modern design, which also includes a U shaped Took Lae Dee Restaurant. Took Lae Dee means cheap and good, which is why it is such a popular place.

Currently, the new Took Lae Dee is establishing a new staff team, so you do need to be a bit patient regarding service. But, the cheap and tasty food is well worth waiting for. If you don’t like waiting, then order your food and have a walk around the supermarket. I sometimes order a takeaway, go and do my food shopping, then by the time I return my takeaway is ready.

Foodland is unique in that you can shop around the clock 24 hours a day. I really missed the Soi 5 branch of Foodland while it was closed, because I live in the area and it is very convenient. Without a doubt you’ve gotta check it out!

  1. Always a good and inexpensive place to eat. I like the Foodland on Soi 16 too. It has more seating and was always a bit nicer. One thing about the Foodland on Soi 5 is that you can often find freelancers and an assortment of farangs and ladyboys grabbing a bite to eat late at night or early morning after the all night clubs have closed.

  2. I sometimes go to Foodland in Soi 16 but it is not in a good location. Soi 16 can be difficult to get out of because it is located inside a slip road. Also, late at night it is not easy to get a taxi. However, it is a large store and as you say, the restaurant has a lot of seating. I am very pleased to see the Soi 5 branch return, because I live in the Nana area.

  3. Due to a large Hotel being built inside Sukhumvit Soi 5 that little street looks deserted. However, we can forget that Gulliver’s Tavern is in Soi 5 and this is a great place to sit and chill out. Gulliver’s is a large venue that serves food and drink at very reasonable prices. My friend Willi tells me that wine is available at an affordable price.

The new Foodland Supermarket on Soi 5 has a wide range of goods and I enjoy shopping there. At ‘Took Lae Dee’ Restaurant the service can be painfully sluggish, but the food is as its namesake says, ‘cheap and good.’
