Tiger Beers are only 99 baht at Whiskey & Go Go Bar in Nana Plaza. By any standards, this is a fantastic Drinks Deal. It is located on the Middle Level of Nana Plaza near Spanky’s Go-Go Bar.
Even the go-go bars are not expensive if you know where to look. Let Dave The Rave guide you and advise you. I can indeed find you the hottest babes and the coldest beers!
Tiger Beer is my favourite choice when drinking in Bangkok. I have drank so many Tigers I should have shares in the brewery!

Hard to imagine that not that long ago if you were busted with even a small about of marijuana in Thailand you could be facing a year in jail and a 10,000 THB fine.
Fast forward to today and you can walk into a café and smoke a joint (which some sexy girl may even roll up for you) sit back, relax and have your coffee and Thai Stick
Cannabis stores are popping up like mushrooms all over Bangkok and there are even now several Cannabis trucks selling their wares on the move. They have been spotted in nightlife areas like Silom.
The speed of the change in Thailand would blow away even Cheech & Chong.
By the way, looking at the prices I see Legalizing cannabis has not made it cheaper as you might have expected. I remember when a big bag of ‘Thai Stick’ was about 500 Baht, now it seems you pay up to 1,000 Baht per gram at some of these establishments.

Juicy Buds inside Juicy on Sukhumvit Soi 11
One of the best cannabis stores in Bangkok I have heard is Juicy Buds Thailand in the Sugar complex on Sukhumvit Soi 11 and they even have an online cannabis store. They have been so successful that they are opening a new Cannabis Shop in Phuket at the Sugar Complex on Bangla Road, Patong on the 20th of August
They seem to it have it well organized there with a full dispensary in a nice relaxing setting.
From what I have heard some of this stuff will literally blow your head off so it’s a lot stronger than that bag of ‘sensimilla’ we used to get.
Is it a good thing? Hard to say at this stage but it definitely won’t do tourism any harm with Thailand being the only SE Asian country to offer Sand, Sea, Sex and now Splif. Tourism could well hit a new high 🙂 Let the good times roll!

Phuket Sugar Club Re-opens today
After all clubs were forced to close down during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak because it was difficult to keep up with all the changing restrictions during this period, Thailand’s nightlife has finally reopened, much like the rest of the world. “When will nightclubs reopen?” has been a question since March 2020. Sugar Club Bangkok (Thailand’s #1 Hip Hop club) reopened last week, and Sugar Club Phuket which reopened Friday 3rd June
If you happen to be in Phuket at the moment, it is well worth a visit.
Bangkok’s go-go bars are also making a comeback. In comparison to Patpong this week, which seemed to have a lot of girls for some reason, Soi Cowboy seemed a little quiet. Its early days…

Bada Bing Patpong During Far Happier Times
Having been able to obtain their SHA approvals, some of Patpong’s nightlife venues have reopened this week.
These include the Legendary Bada Bing (once voted one of the top 5 Gogo Bars in Bangkok), The Black Pagoda and XXX Lounge (formerly Club Electric Blue), which has been open for a couple of weeks now. Also, open are BarBar Fetish Club, Patpong Museum and the King’s Corner Bar.

The New Normal.
Although these bars have got their SHA approvals and been able to open, the new normal is very different from the pre-covid days. The lights are on, the music is very soft, there is no dancing permitted, the stages are empty or curtained off. So sadly, it’s a bit like being in a GoGo bar at closing time.
With beers prices at a lot of venues still high, around 180 baht in some places; is this a tempting prospect? I leave you to draw your own conclusions. 😉
Goodbye To Old Friends…
On a slightly sadder note, some well know and well-loved Patpong venues have closed permanently. These include the Madrid Bar on Patpong 1 and Le Bouchon French Restaurant on Patpong 2.

Madrid Bars Interior – Been Going Since 1969
The legendary, nostalgic Madrid Bar dates back to 1969, when it catered mostly to US soldiers fighting in the Vietnam War and later gaining a reputation for hosting pilots from the CIA’s Air America and even, as a place where covert operations were planned. Oh yes, it’s all incredibly true!
Bangkok living legend and acclaimed author Dean Barrett, recalls drinking with Tony Poe at the Madrid Bar. Tony Poe was a CIA officer famed to be who the character of Colonel Kurtz was based on in the movie Apocalypse Now.
Such a shame to see all that rich history disappear. ?Le Bouchon was a similar legend having been on Patpong 2 for over 25 years, seving excellent French cuisine.

Le Bouchon With Its Legendary Owner Serg
Serge the owner posted this message on his Facebook page…
“Dear Customers, Friends and Associates,
Today, and with great sadness, I have to inform you that, due to the current adverse circumstances, your favorite restaurant Le Bouchon in Patpong, will remain closed. I wish to take this opportunity, together with my entire staff, to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind patronage and unwavering support over the past twenty-five years. I have enjoyed and appreciated every minute of it. On a more positive note, be assured that I am actively in search of a new location and I will not fail to communicate with you in due time. We shall meet again in the near future. In the meantime, stay healthy.” Serge
The list of venues that have closed permanently on Patpong is growing with Superstar, the oldest go-go bar in Thailand and Kiss Go-Go Bar added to the list.
More updates soon, cheers!

Hello From Sunny Scarborough!

If you are not aware, I had to leave Bangkok, due to the C-19 pandemic and return to England. Just like so many people, the coronavirus outbreak has caused me to lose my business. I had no choice but to leave Thailand, after living in Bangkok for 22 years and repatriate to England.
However, I do intend to keep on blogging, but I do not think there will be regular blog posts, as before. I am currently adapting to life near the famous seaside town of Scarborough in North Yorkshire, England.
Until I get back up to speed, you may want to follow my daily posts on social media. I am active on Facebook HERE and also on Twitter HERE.

Nationwide Curfew Commences Friday
Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has announced that a curfew would be imposed from Friday, April 3rd at 22:00 until 04:00 hours.
This is an attempt to prevent the COVID-19 virus spreading, as certain people have not obeyed instructions to stay at home.
Let us all hope this dreaded virus passes sooner than later.
Nationwide night curfew starts Friday The area near Nonthaburi market on the first night of the curfew from 11pm to 5am announced by the provincial governor on the same day. (Photo by Pattarapong Chatpattarasill) All people in Thailand are banned from leaving home from 10pm to 4am starting Friday in the government’s latest move to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Thailand’s Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has declared a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
It will come into effect from this Thursday. However, an official statement as to what the conditions entail has yet to be announced.
This will mean the Thai authorities will have unprecedented governmental powers. It is thought to include enforcing a curfew and putting restrictions upon domestic and international travel.
According to the Thai government, the COVID-19 in Thailand has now claimed four lives. Until recently there was only one death.

BANGKOK – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha said an emergency decree, along with a raft of new restrictive measures, will come into effect on Thursday. Speaking in a televised address, Prayut said the enactment of the 2005 Royal Decree of Emergency Situations is necessary to stem the coronavirus epidemic, which claimed four lives in Thailand as of the latest count.

The Covid-19 outbreak in Bangkok has spiked, forcing the Thai government to seriously consider a lockdown.
Bangkok is already in shutdown mode with shopping malls, bars, nightclubs and restaurants, all closed until at least April 12th.
Recently, the Thai Army was deployed to disinfect Chinatown and Thailand was recently praised for their efforts by the World Health Organisation.
It is the consensus from ground zero that lockdown is not a matter of if but when. With the Covid-19 cases rising it is more inevitable.
NB. Covid-19 is an acronym for Corona Virus Disease 2019
BANGKOK – Emergency decree may be enacted soon to impose a lockdown of Bangkok in a bid to stem the coronavirus epidemic, government sources said Friday. The measure is being discussed just as health officials on Saturday say 89 new cases of confirmed infection were found, a sharp rise from daily tally in recent days.

As you are probably aware, almost all of the bars and nightclubs are closed in Bangkok and Pattaya. This is to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading further. It’s probably wise at this stage but nobody knows how long the bars will stay shut.
However, certain pubs (but not all), can open until midnight. Three of them are The Game Pub (Sukhumvit Soi 9), The Oasis Pub (Soi Cowboy) and The Old English Pub (Sukhumvit Soi 55).

Last night I had an excellent Cheeseburger at The Game Sports Bar & Grill which is conveniently located next to the BTS Nana Skytrain Station. This is one of the few venues still serving booze.

The Thai Prime Minister has made a flip-flop on his statement that the entertainment venues will not have to close. This is in order to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading further.
Just two days later he has now stated that all bars and nightclubs in Bangkok and Pattaya, will have to close from March 18th until March 31st.
Stickman recently said about the Thai government that left hand does not know what the right hand is doing and this just proves the point.

No doubt this is a devastating blow for entertainment venues in Bangkok and Pattaya. It means multitudes of employees, including the barmy army of bargirls, will most probably be laid off with unpaid leave.
One way around this is entertainment establishments that have restaurant licenses. For example, pubs with restaurant licenses can continue to do trade, which makes a mockery of the whole concept.
There are two questions that remain in my mind. Will this soon include restaurants, public transportation systems and shopping malls? Also, what about the rest of Thailand?
Breaking: We can confirm that the Provincial Government of Banglamung and Chonburi have ordered, effective tomorrow, March 18th, 2020, that all entertainment venues must close until March 31st, 2020. The Pattaya News spoke with the Banglamung Police Chief over the phone this evening and confirmed the information.

Thailand’s tourism industry is in turmoil due to the media hype over the coronavirus outbreak. The levels of panic among certain people worldwide created by the media has caused hysteria.
This is severely damaging tourism and also Thailand’s entertainment sector. No doubt a number of bars, pubs and clubs will be affected, some have already closed as a result.

Stickman’s opening article in his weekly column is a collection of opinions and on the ground reports from foreign residents in Thailand. My opinions are among them and you can read it HERE
I still stick by my guns in my previous article entitled, Thailand Gets Knocked Off Its Pedestal which you can read RIGHT HERE

Thai Airways has announced over 12 billion baht in losses in 2019 and surely it must be as bad, if not worse this year.
When this scare storm passes, I fear that the damage will be done. The unscrupulous media machine will move on to its next scaremongering campaign. Then Thailand will be left to pick up the pieces of its shattered tourism industry.

Mark my words, the media machine will have a lot to answer for regarding the COVID-19 virus scare. Let’s hope this COVID-19 virus soon passes.
However, will the public become any wiser to their devious trickery?

Back in Britain, I was a professional personal protection specialist. I have conducted seminars and presentations with the British Police Force for community safety.
Below are Ten Top Tips for general personal protection after dark. Most of these guidelines are common sense but logical thinking is often ignored when people drink alcohol…
(1) Do carry enough money for the evening or have a credit card, as a backup. There are plenty of available ATM machines so you have no excuses. Running out of cash is not only embarrassing it can land you in jail.
(2) Don’t carry valuables after dark or wear flashy jewellery. This includes your passport and extra credit cards. Just take what you will need to use that night. The less you carry the less you can lose.
(3) Do keep an eye on your bar bill. Check what is going on it and be aware of the total. You do not want to rack up a big bar bill and not be able to pay it. This is why it is a good idea to carry your credit card if you overspend.
(4) Don’t leave your friend alone if they are very drunk. You won’t forgive yourself if they get mugged or worse. Remember, there is safety in numbers, especially in a strange place.
(5) Do keep an eye on your drinks. It’s easy to slip drugs into unattended drinks. If you need to leave your drink, either finish it or order a new one when you return.
(6) Don’t walk in dark or secluded areas. Stick to well-lit public areas or get a taxi if it is late at night. Muggings do happen in Thailand.
(7) Do have plenty of small banknotes to prevent being short-changed. You can easily break a few big bills at one of the multitudes of convenience stores. Alternatively, you can get a bundle of small baht bills at a bank.
(8) Don’t carry your wallet or phone in your back pocket. Pickpockets do operate in Thailand so don’t give them the opportunity. Consider wearing a money belt if you do carry lots of cash after dark.
(9) Do enjoy yourself; by all means, be happy and friendly. Just be street smart and remain switched on at all times.
(10) Don’t ignore your intuition. Trust your instincts if you feel something is not right. Remember your ‘Stranger Danger’ lessons as a kid. Move on to the next entertainment establishment if you don’t like the vibe. It’s better to be safe than sorry and besides, there are many other venues.
