SOI COWBOY – LITTLE LAS VEGAS

I have visited Soi Cowboy several times in recent weeks.  Despite the hype from some people, it was not that busy in the majority of go-go bars.  In fact, Marc who is the manager of Dollhouse told me last night, bar trade in Soi Cowboy slowed down a lot these past few weeks.  As I have said before, it is the same everywhere with very few exceptions.  (more…)

Despite the recent bomb blasts at Sala Daeng Skytrain Station, I decided a visit to Silom was long overdue.  I spontaneously felt I needed to go and report what was happening in Patpong. (more…)

SPICE CLUB REACHES A CLIMAX

The popular nightspot Spice Club has been renamed Climax.  Word is that taxi drivers were taking Spice customers to Spicy instead.  I think it was wise to change the name of the club in this case.  What with Spice, Spicy and Bossy, it was getting confusing for all concerned.  To celebrate the rebirth there is a Climax Party this Tuesday, September 29th.  There will be live music, international DJs, coyote showgirls and your first drink is free.  Spice it up all you want, but we would sooner have a climax! SOI COWBOY — WELCOME TO LITTLE LAS VEGAS

Regarding the go-go bar scene in Bangkok, I think it is fair to say that a lot of the action is in Soi Cowboy these days.  Shark Go-Go Bar was packed this week and we are talking about a Tuesday night.  Shark was so busy that they opened the upstairs section.  They have got the formula right in a simple, but effective way.  Shark Bar operates to a standard format of rotating sets of go-go dancing with no shows during the night.  The go-go dancers are so sexy that it could be classed as a show in itself.

ROYAL CITY AVENUE – GET YOUR KICKS IN ROUTE 66

Royal City Avenue or ‘RCA’ is a popular little strip for Thais and foreigners alike to party the night away.  If you agree to buy a bottle of whisky, you will receive free entrance to the clubs.  If you don’t manage to finish the bottle that night, most clubs will reserve your bottle for another time.  If you are not into doing the hip-hop bop, some clubs provide live music as an alternative.  Live bands perform both Thai and Western songs. Soi Cowboy Nightseeing Tour

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

What do most people do on their days off? I suppose they relax, watch TV, surf the internet, spend quality time with their other half, go shopping, visit their favourite restaurant, pursue their favourite sports or hobbies, or go to see a movie. What does Dave The Rave do? He goes on a barman’s holiday, (I don’t drive buses) and visits the go-go bars in Soi Cowboy. Being the Go-Go Guru, old habits die hard, which is not surprising. And so, on a night off from my duties in Angelwitch, I decided to meet up with Sanook Shaun in Soi Cowboy. I know I’m fortunate to have this lifestyle, but I like to think my ‘sacrifice’ is for you guys! (more…)

DAVE THE RAVE’S BIRTHDAY BASH

Yui Naughty Girls Pattaya Thailand - Thailand Night FeverI will try to get Thailand Night Fever online as early as I can today, because it’s my birthday.  Give or take the odd week here and there, my birthday coincides with several anniversaries.  As coincidence would have it, my first trip to Thailand was 20 years ago in May 1988.  On May 20th, I will have been in Angelwitch for 3 years.  Also, this year sees me commence my 10th consecutive year in Nana Plaza, as the Go-Go Guru.  As you can see guys, 2008 is a rather significant year for Dave The Rave.  If you are in Bangkok, you are most welcome to help me celebrate my birthday tonight.  I will be in Angelwitch Go-Go Bar in Nana Plaza.  If you cannot make it don’t worry, because belated birthday wishes are always appreciated.  I look forward to seeing some of you later tonight.  I just hope that I manage to “survive” my birthday bash… Cheers! SOI COWBOY — WALK ON THE WILD WEST SIDE (PART 2)

SOI COWBOY BANGKOK THAILAND 08 - Thailand Night FeverAfter a few minutes of deliberation, the first go-go bar that we visited was Shark Go-Go Bar.  For such a good go-go bar, Shark was quiet, and this was a Friday night.  One positive thing about Shark Bar is that the drink prices are very reasonable.  Most of the regular house beers are 125 Baht, which is very good by today’s prices.  Shark Bar never feature any shows, but some guys might argue that the dancing dolls on stage is a show in itself.  I think that Shark has a high level of attractive go-go dancers, but this does come at some price.  Most of the dolly birds know that they are HOT and they will play on this.  The hot babes here will not always approach guys (especially strangers) and therefore, they can appear standoffish.  Furthermore, effort on your part is necessary if you want to meet and get to know the go-go dancers. CHALLENGING WEEK FOR DAVE THE RAVE

Flying To Bangkok Thailand 01 - Thailand Night FeverThis passed week has been very hectic.  Unfortunately, my wife’s Grandmother (Yai in Thai) passed away.  She was a very sweet old lady of 84 years old (RIP Yai).  My wife was told to return home quickly and at least she was able to see Yai before she passed away.  I could not go to pay my respects to Yai, because I had to take care of things in Bangkok.  I have been busy being both dog sitter and housekeeper!  Also, I had to run Angelwitch every night because Matt was in Germany visiting his family.  This week’s “Thailand Night Fever” might be a bit shorter than usual.  So, if it’s short and sweet, I hope you find it an interesting read…  (more…)

ROMANTIC REMINDER — CUPID’S CALLING

Bangkok Thailand 001 - Thailand Night FeverSome of you less romantic folks might need a reminder that it is Valentine’s Day tomorrow.  This is to jog your memory, because you know what us men are like for remembering special days.  Try not to forget a card, or gift for the special person in your life.  It is not too late to surprise your teerak (sweetheart) by arranging a romantic dinner for two.  Just by making the effort, I am sure that it will be appreciated.  We should get away with being a Romantic Romeo and not be accused of getting too soppy by our macho mates.  Wherever you spend this year’s Valentine’s Day, I sincerely hope you have a pleasant time.  Who will be your Valentine?
