Amazing Thailand YouTube Video

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Today I want to talk about Bangkok bashers and Thailand haters. Do you get fed up with constant complainers? You know, those people who criticise everything and everybody.

I get particularly bored of people who moan ‘n’ groan about Thailand. Why don’t they leave Thailand and never return? I think it is not difficult to look for the bad in any country, but we should remain  positive and look for the good in countries such as Thailand. Millions of people visit Thailand every year, so the Thais must be doing something right!

Thailand Tonight – 17/06/2010

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Just lately, the Thais are asking us why there are so few foreigners visiting Thailand this month.  With confused expressions they genuinely ask, ‘Where farang go, why not come Thailand?’  With a wry smile we reply, ‘Why do you think they are not coming?’  It is as though the mini civil war in Bangkok never happened.  Hey, perhaps they think it was a Hollywood movie! after dark new cover 112 - Thailand Tonight - August 23rd, 2009

Royal City Avenue or ‘RCA’ is a popular little strip for Thais and foreigners alike to party the night away.  If you agree to buy a bottle of whisky, you will receive free entrance to the clubs.  If you don’t manage to finish the bottle that night, most clubs will reserve your bottle for another time.  If you are not into doing the hip-hop bop, some clubs provide live music as an alternative.  Live bands perform both Thai and Western songs. A Thai Bar Girl’s Diet Is Fried Insects

Friday, April 24th, 2009

“Westerners eat with their eyes, Thais eat with their hearts.”

I don’t class myself as squeamish at all, but the sight of fried insects being devoured by Thai bar girls is rather off-putting. Have you seen those creepy creatures? Today, I dedicate ‘Photo Of The Day’ to a close-up of a grasshopper. It looks crispy and shiny, but has obviously seen better days. I spotted a Thai bar girl sitting outside a go-go bar in Nana Plaza, she was chomping away at something. The young, petite go-go dancer was munching and crunching away on a plastic bag full of grasshoppers. I cannot possibly imagine a deep, long kiss with her at that moment. Can you envisage that?

I was pleased with this image taken with my Canon 450D SLR camera. I was experimenting with ‘depth of field’ and I got the result that I wanted. I’m satisfied with the clarity and detail of the grasshopper.

I would photograph an insect, but eat one, no way!

Bangkok Bars Rollercoaster Ride

Friday, February 20th, 2009

nana plaza bangkok1 300x183 - Bangkok Bars Rollercoaster RideApproaching the end of February and the Bangkok bars rollercoaster ride is starting to get very scary. Overall, Bar trade right across this vast, sprawling metropolis is affected right now. Only the minority of exceptional bars continue to do a roaring trade.  The Thais pray with more intensity and Buddhist offerings are increasing. In some go-go bars in Nana Plaza Thai bar girls sit patiently, but few farangs walk through the door. The neon jungle environment has become, as Charles Darwin said, “Survival of the fittest.”

Comparing the Bangkok bar trade with a rollercoaster ride, the steep drop makes the head spin, as you cling on for your life. Foreign currencies are not at all favourable against an unbelievably strong Thai baht. The global economic crisis takes its toll and even multimillion dollar companies are falling into a deep, dark abyss. It was predicted to be a very tough financial year and so far, the economic experts are being proved right. Let’s hope it is part of a cycle and the global economy will eventually recover.

To end on a much more positive note, this leaves the beer bars and go-go bars less crowded with guys and therefore, more available Thai girls for you. Happy babe hunting!

Bangkok & Pattaya Bars Open Tonight

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Today is a very special day, because it is the King of Thailand’s birthday. His Majesty King Bhumipol is 81-years old. Thai people right across Thailand will celebrate and pay their respects to a truly revered King. His Majesty King Bhumipol is the longest reigning monarch in the world.

nana plaza bangkok - Bangkok & Pattaya Bars Open Tonight

There is good news for you party people, because the majority of beer bars and go-go bars in Bangkok and Pattaya will be open tonight. I think it would have been terrible news, if the bars were told to close by the Thai authorities. Following the 8-day airport crisis, this would be a disaster for many bars and nightlife related businesses. Fortunately, you will find most of your favourite beer bars, go-go bars, pubs and clubs open tonight. Party on!

Thailand Night Fever

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Angelwitch Showgirls Nana Plaza Loy Kratong Bangkok 2007 - Thailand Night FeverWelcome to the Thai New Year 2551 and let’s all hope it is a good year for Thailand.  Another Songkran has come and gone for most of us, but don’t forget that Pattaya will continue the water warfare until this weekend.  I have to say that I thought the Songkran Festival was a bit quiet overall this year.  If you question what I mean by that, then just ask a bar owner.  The go-go bars in Bangkok had fewer go-go dancers, due to many bar girls deciding to go home this Songkran.  Some go-go bars cut their girls as much as 2,000 Baht per day.  This is a very severe cut for not working during Songkran.  However, this can be counterproductive to the bar, because some bar girls will stop  work for the rest of April.  If a bargirl is cut 6,000 Baht that is over 50% of a go-go dancers salary.  Of course, many Thais are on much lower salaries than go-go dancers are.  Most service girls don’t earn 6,000 Baht.  Therefore, a bargirl might well think; why should I work for nothing?  I would hazard a guess that in most go-go bars in Bangkok, the takings were down on last year.  Also, I couldn’t help but notice that fewer bargirls got into the spirit of things. Thailand Night Fever

Bangkok Thailand 001 - Thailand Night FeverSome of you less romantic folks might need a reminder that it is Valentine’s Day tomorrow.  This is to jog your memory, because you know what us men are like for remembering special days.  Try not to forget a card, or gift for the special person in your life.  It is not too late to surprise your teerak (sweetheart) by arranging a romantic dinner for two.  Just by making the effort, I am sure that it will be appreciated.  We should get away with being a Romantic Romeo and not be accused of getting too soppy by our macho mates.  Wherever you spend this year’s Valentine’s Day, I sincerely hope you have a pleasant time.  Who will be your Valentine?
