Monday, January 28th, 2019

CHIANG RAI – On January 28th, a Thai Army Task Force intercepted a pickup truck in Chiang Rai’s Chiang Saen region in the far north of Thailand.

While the Thai Task Force chased the drug suspects, their pickup crashed and a shootout entailed. As the drug smugglers attempted to flee, one of them was shot and killed.

Due to their swift actions, the Thai soldiers were able to seize around 2.85 million methamphetamine pills.

It is fair to say that the street value would have been enormous.

Recently a Thai Cultural Festival was held in London. It proved to be very popular, because of the popularity of Thai food in Britain.  It comes as no surprise that there are around 1,700 Thai restaurants in Great Britain.  The festival featured a vast array of Thai culture and food.  The festival was so well received that Trafalgar Square was transformed into “Thaifalgar Square.”  The full story is covered by Thailand’s independent newspaper THE NATION

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

In a shocking series of events, former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s lawyers are sent to prison for six months.  An attempted bribe of 2,000,000 Baht, which was sent as a “gift” to the Supreme Court backfired on them.

Thailand In Turmoil

Here we go again!  Thai protesters this afternoon have made a determined effort to march to Government House in Bangkok.  Although the Metropolitan Riot Police had (supposedly) set up a blockade, protesters easily outwitted the Thai authorities.

Meanwhile, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) continues to fall amid fears of violence and speculation about another military coup.  Even though various Thai authorities state that there will not be another military coup, the political arena remains tense.  The crowds of protesters are mostly middle-class Bangkok residents, who are lead by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD).
